ASME-IDETC 2016 in Charlotte, NC, USA

This trip to USA contains three parts: 2016 Kinematics Summer School (20-21 Aug), Mechanism&Robot Design Competition (22 Aug) and 40th Mechanisms and Robotics Conference (22-24 Aug). Luckily, I took part in all three parts.

The summer school provided two full days instruction and practical applications on compliant mechanisms. The course topics include PRBM and continuum modeling approaches, analysis of elastic members, material consideration, synthesis approaches via FACT, building block methods and topology optimization. These cources are very useful for early learners to get interested in compliant mechanisms.

The MR Design Competition was fierce, but the opportunity to demonstrate the design ability and communication with researchers from different research areas are also important for participants to open mind and increase experiences.

The conference is also a platform to show the state of art researches and master research trends. Also it is a good social intercourse with world's top scholars in the same research area.
